Frederick “Freddie” Alfred Munnings SR., OBE
Frederick Alfred Munnings Sr., later personally invested by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE), was born in Pure Gold, Andros, Bahamas. He was a tall young man said to have charismatic charm, a matinee idol aura, and musical talent.
It was his musical talent, however, that lifted him to fame and legend. As owner of the world-famous Cat & Fiddle Night Club, he exposed many Bahamians and local artists to international entertainers.
“Freddie,” as he was affectionately called, was also an activist, businessman, and advisor to up-and-coming artists. Freddie received many accolades in his lifetime and posthumously.
