A Bahamian pupil, wife, student teacher at the Ministry of Education & Culture, a classroom teacher, studied abroad returning to the top post in the educational field becoming the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works & Utilities, a Senator then promoted to Cabinet as Minister of Health & Environment then Minister of Education. Dame Ivy later became the 1st. woman and 6th. Governor General of the Bahamas. She is also an author.
